Momma Told Me: Made From Earth: Olive Night Cream Giveaway ...

Momma Told Me: Beauty is only skin deep.

Time and time again, on Momma Told Me, I have told the tale of a 5 year-old Jenna, crawling under desks to remove 'poisonous' makeup from her teachers' purse. While others accounts of the Zorro-esque behavior are more vivid, and likely less in my favor- the reasoning behind such events is not argued. Even, just out of preschool, I knew Momma was sick, and while I didn't know what they were called (parabens), I was certain toxic chemicals in her cosmetics had given her cancer. While that's a lot to process for a child, it's still just as much of a dramatic shock to most modern adults. Chemicals, often preservatives, found in many big brand cosmetics can be absorbed through the skin's permeable surface (much like bleach, arsenic, or allergens, yikes!) Several medical professionals have noted scary observations such as; "Cosmetic chemicals accumulate in the boy's fatty tissues, where they can remain for years and damage your cells."

Feel like you've heard similar 'lines' before? But you always purchase 'organic' skincare and vegan cosmetics, so you're exempt, right? Unfortunately, the shocking truth is that preservative proven parabens are often used to fortify what was originally an organic compound. Companies label their products on a niche market that will appeal to consumers, then circumvent the claims with bynotes about necessary preservatives and chemicals intended to maintain the organic compound's integrity. And those very same paraben based 'preservatives' have been found present in 18 out of 20 breast cancer tumors! But scare tactics should never be your guiding motive for purchasing decisions. There are many positive reasons to switch to true organics; many of which you can benefit from immediately.

To begin, many of the true 'organic' based skincare lines feature powerful ingredients such as Jojoba Nut Oil, a liquid wax comparable to that of our own skin's properties. It stands to reason, man ingredients found in nature are also natural to our ecosystems, and compatible with our bodies. Fine organic companies, such as Made From Earth, also hold strong standards against animal cruelty and any form of non-human testing. In fact, they simply don't use any ingredients that could be considered potentially harmful- something every consumer can feel good about immediately. While you won't likely see Made From Earth lining the shelves of your local Target, this department store quality cosmetics and skincare line covers a diverse selection of needs and applications from Overnight Facial Treatments to Luxurious holistic lip balms.
I was recently sent the brand's 2oz Olive Night Cream formulation, for review here on Momma Told Me. The product was professionally packaged in a heat sealed clear plastic wrapper, nestled within a green twist top (plastic) jar. I should say that I would like to see glass, or know if the container's origins, as the company claims to be quite organic and Earth friendly. Regardless, it was quite refreshing to be able to pronounce and identify each ingredient, directly on the jar's label. This Olive Night Cream is recommended for those with 'mature' or dry skin, excellent for those with especially sensitive skin. I can't claim that my skin is particularly either, but I can attest to the pampering nature of it's properties. Made with 11, fine organic, ingredients such as Aloe Vera Juice, Rosemary, and Olive Oil, this cream is quite bold upon application.
The Olive Oil Night Cream had a light khaki color, and slightly thick and oily appearance. It's certainly not to be confused with a lotion- this cream will sit on the surface of your skin, as it is absorbed through the process of the entire night. While it doesn't discolor my face, or cake like a masque, this cream reminded me of a sunscreen, and left me initially feeling dirtier than before I'd washed my face! Between the pH balance, and intense olive oil compound, I'd highly suggest this regimen, night treatment, for those with dry skin. In fact, I'd like to see a similar product made to combat eczema. I find that I like to wash my face upon for waking up, after treatments, to allow my skin to breathe prior to the day's makeup. A nice toner mist helps seal in the moisture of the night's Olive Oil treatment, and truly makes my complexion glow!

What Daughter Says: Beauty goes straight through the skin, to our very core- so watch what kind of 'beauty' you use, because it just might be hanging around longer than you think!
